2017-2018 Grade 2
We think about the difference between fiction and nonfiction a lot in Grade 2, including an introduction to chapter books. We read fiction to get a feel for an idea or a place and we may even learn something from it. From there we go to nonfiction to broaden our knowledge and confirm what we feel we learned in fictional stories. Books that relate to the Alberta Grade 2 Social Studies curriculum are often used to demonstrate these concepts.
