Grade 4 - 2015-2016Last year, in Grade 3 we read The Mystery of the Frozen Brains. The class liked it so much they voted to read a book from Marty Chan's other elementary series this year. So after watching Reading Gives You Superpowers at our first class in September, we started Barnabas Bigfoot and the Hairy Tangle.
We're still reading it! I thought we might be finished by the time we Skyped with the Author on November 6, but no such luck. With a too-short library class, a break to introduce the YRCA program, Share the Gift of Story week and a long winter break, it's taking a long time to read this book, but like the Chan fans they are, this class is still chomping at the bit each week to read Barnabas' adventure. |
These are the books our community reader shared with us during Share the Gift of Story Week.

Choose Your Own Adventure books are so much fun because rather than passively following the plot, you get make choices that affect the outcome - with YOU as the protagonist.

A biography of a early 20th century biologist who believed in something so strongly, she researched all the facts to write an important book that opened the world's eyes to her cause. This relates to the Grade 4 Social Studies benchmark skill: "demonstrate commitment to the well-being of the community by drawing attention to situations of injustice where action is needed".
